How it works
At a real counter, on a busy morning.
Everything Notchcard does, in the order it happens. Nothing here needs an app, an account or a customer's details.
Open a counter
Give your shop name, the reward ("a free coffee", "$5 off your next cut") and how many notches it takes (4 to 20). You get a private counter link. It is the only key to your counter: bookmark it on the register's phone, tablet or laptop, and keep a copy somewhere safe.
Print the sign
Your counter has a sign page with a QR code. Print it on plain paper and stand it by the register. If a sign walks off, make a new join code: the old QR stops working and you print the new one.
A customer gets a card
They scan the sign and tap Get my card. The card lives in their phone's browser with a five-letter code like K7MXA. No name, number or email is asked. One phone can keep cards from up to 8 different shops.
You notch it
They show the code; you type it on the counter screen and tap Notch (or +2, +3 for a big order). Their card fills in front of them, usually within 15 seconds. The wait you chose between notches stops a double tap from counting twice; tick Notch again anyway for a genuine second visit.
The reward
When the card reaches the count it says Reward ready, and so does your screen. Tap Redeem and give them the reward. Extra notches carry over to the next card.
Mistakes
Every notch and redeem can be undone for 15 minutes from the counter's recent list.
Lost or new phone
Ask the shop to look up your code and tap Move to a new phone. Their screen shows a QR code: scan it with the new phone. The card keeps its notches and the old link stops working. If you do not know your code, the shop can start you a fresh card.
Your numbers
The counter shows cards given out, cards notched in the last 30 days, notches in the last 7 and 30 days, rewards redeemed and how many cards came back for a second visit. Counts only, no guesses about money.
